The ECI Quality Management Program
Commitment is Everything
With the right attitude, teamwork, ingenuity, and “top-down” administrative support, ECI-affiliated hospitals can, and do, systematically improve the operational efficiency of their emergency departments and clinics – this is good for everybody: patients, hospital, medical staff, and ED/clinic providers as well.
ECI believes that there is only one acceptable standard for reaching national core measures and that is 100% compliance. Our Quality Management RAPID (Rapid Analysis of Performance for Improvement of Documentation) Review Process allows ECI’s QM Committee to review the chart of every patient admitted to the hospital via the ED with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction or community acquired pneumonia. The physician that provided care then receives an automatically generated e-mail each week detailing the charts reviewed and compliance with selected indicators. Medical Directors are able to view a compilation of review results for their specific hospitals monthly via the ECiLink Portal. We strongly believe this feedback needs to be provided on an ongoing basis to allow emergency physicians to modify practice patterns based on best practice information and nationally accepted clinical guidelines.
The Committee reviews all reports and works collaboratively with the Education Department and QualChart® Committee. This allows the Education Department to provide educational materials via a number of venues, and allows fine-tuning of the documentation system by the QualChart® Committee.
In addition, the Medical Director at each facility oversees and reviews data compilation regarding patients in potential risk situations, including those leaving AMA or without being treated, transfers, patient complaints, radiology recalls, EKG recalls, laboratory follow-ups, and 72-hour unscheduled revisits.
