Exploring Hot Topics in Emergency Medicine
An integral part of ECI's Education Department, the ECI Nexus® newsletter addresses issues of current interest to emergency medicine providers and emergency department staff members.
Published quarterly for all ECI-affiliated hospitals, ECI Nexus® describes the role that care providers have in the health care arena: between the emergency care and the patient, between one ancillary department and another, between patients and their family members, and between EMS and the hospital. This newsletter encompasses a variety of topics ranging from drug information, regulatory updates pertaining to The Joint Commission and EMTALA, interesting and unusual cases seen in client emergency departments, to pages dedicated to physician, mid-level practitioner, and nursing issues.
The newsletter also contains timely and useful information on new and emerging illnesses or issues pertinent to emergency department practitioners of all levels. A very popular column is "Three Cheers," in which emergency department staffs, including physicians, are recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to their department. Practitioners of all levels are encouraged to submit articles for publication.
