ECI’s experience with physician extenders has been very positive, from both cost containment as well as patient satisfaction perspectives. Always in concert with the goals and objectives of client hospitals, we use mid-level providers to see “fast track” or minor care patients. This has allowed us to increase our overall hours of emergency department coverage and improve patient throughput times at a reduced cost.
